TERRY DISLEY – SEPTEMBER NEWS
Something I have to say straight off the bat - a GLORIOUS review in September’s Keyboard Magazine is well worth the read. Likening my talents to those of Joe Zawinul, McCoy Tyner, Gonzalo Rubalcaba - well, what can I say except this is high praise indeed and I am so very happy and thankful!
OK, enough of the gloating, now on with the news!
Food Glorious Food!! One thing we just realized which is consistent on all our gigs - whenever you see the Terry Disley Experience we are always accompanied by fabulous food! With this in mind we decided to feature some of the upcoming culinary attractions in this month’s newsletter -
Shanghai 1930 in San Francisco features the finest Chinese cuisine in the City. Fresh chilies, garlic, and lots of tongue-tingling spices make this one of our best eating experiences. Favourites here include the Chili Prawns, the Minced Duck Lettuce Cups, Fish on the Vine and Firecracker Chicken. We perform this Friday with Mads Tolling on violin, and also 3 times in September: Tuesday 2nd with the Jazz / Rock Trio, plus Friday 12th and Friday 26th with the 5-piece Terry Disley Experience group featuring Erik Jekabson on trumpet.
The meatballs and lasagna at the Dirty Martini show August 6th in the Historic Cannery San Francisco had rave reviews from everyone that attended! Featuring the Terry Disley Experience Trio playing a blend of Jazz and Pink Floyd, Coldplay, Radiohead and Bob Marley with admission set at just $8 (which includes great complimentary food provided by our very own Chef Glen T McCord), this is a great deal and tremendous fun. We are expecting a huge turnout for the next show. Please join us from 6:30-9:30pm Wednesday September 3rd.
With the fabulous new deck at the Miramar Beach Restaurant you can enjoy a lovely outdoor setting while dining with music and beautiful sunsets all at the same time! We perform Saturdays from 6-10pm and Sundays from 4-8pm (see revised schedule below for details). Star attractions here are the world famous Seafood Chowder, Oysters Miramar, Seafood Paella, and the Red Curry Prawns.
A huge thank you goes to the organizers of the Summer Concert Series at Sunvalley in Concord and the Summer Music Concert Series in downtown Walnut Creek for their support at our August concerts. Both events were very well attended and offered a wonderful chance to meet many new enthusiasts and fans. We hope to play there again next year!
